- Real measure of any time management technique is whether or not it helps you to neglect the right things
- Pay yourself first - block out time for yourself, work on most important project for first hour of each day
- Limit your WIP - have max 3 projects
- Resist allure of middling priorities - Buffett says ‘have 25 tasks, actively reject the bottom 20.’
- Patience:
- Develop a task of having problems. No problems = meaningless
- Embrace radical incrementalism - small chunks daily that compound
- Originality lies on the far side of unoriginality - Finnish bus station story.
- Questions to ask yourself
- Where in your life are you currently pursuing comfort when what is needed is a little discomfort? For big decisions, ask “does this choice diminish me or enlarge me”
- Are you holding yourself to productivity standards impossible to meet?
- In what ways have you yet to accept the fact that you are who you are?
- In which areas of life are you still holding back until you feel like you know what you’re doing?
- How you would spend your days differently if you didn’t care so much about seeing your actions reach fruition?
